NEET 2023 Exam Date Released: The NTA has officially scheduled NEET UG 2023 on May 7th, 2023. Registration window opened on March 6th, 2023 and will close on April 6th, 2023. Admit card for NEET 2023 Exam has been released on May 3rd, 2023 and candidates are required to download them before the exam date.

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a pen-and-paper medical entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS and AYUSH courses. It is an all-India pre-medical test which was formerly known as AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test). What is the purpose of NEET exam?

NTA has been conducting the NEET (UG) since 2019 with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Education, in pursuance of the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

NEET 2022 Synopsis

NEET 2022 was conducted on 17 July 2022 for medical aspirants in 497 Indian cities and 14 Cities Outside India. The registration process for the same started on 6th April 2022; application forms were released on the official website of NEET – nta.neet.nic.in. The officials announced the last date for submission of the online application form for NEET – 20th May 2022. NEET 2022 witnessed approximately 18.7 lakh registrations, the highest yet. The results of NEET 2022 were announced on 7th September 2022.

Candidates must have passed or must be appearing in Class 12 board examination or equivalent.

Which subjects are necessary to take up NEET?

As mentioned in the Regulations of NMC and DCI, candidates must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination. What Is New in NEET 2023 exam? – Expected Changes in NEET 2023

Candidates planning to take up NEET exam 2023 can expect a few changes in the upcoming NEET-UG exam since NTA has introduced several changes in the past 2 years.

Some changes introduced earlier were as follows:

  • The overall exam duration was increased by 20 minutes in NEET 2022 to a total of 200 minutes (03:20 hours) to be held from 02:00 PM to 05:20 PM (IST).
  • Changes in the exam pattern with introduction of section A and section B (having optional questions).
  • Qualifying NEET UG exam is a must even for Indian candidates who desire to pursue medicine abroad.
  • No restriction on the number of attempts at NEET or any upper age limit. However, minimum age limit restriction must be followed as per corresponding categories.
  • To seek admissions in AIIMS and JIPMER institutes, qualifying NEET is a must.

NEET 2023 Question paper and answer keys

Candidates can opt for the NEET exam question paper in any of the following 13 languages. The NEET Question paper would be a bilingual paper, i.e., in two languages — one language is English and the other is the language preferred and selected by the candidate. NEET 2023 Answer keys

NEET 2023 answer keys shall be released by the official authorities on the official website usually 2-3 weeks after the exams have been conducted. However, students can get an idea of their performance by referring to unofficial websites for the answer keys. Along with answer keys, OMR response sheets will also be uploaded.

At first, a provisional set of answer keys are released for students to check and challenge the answer keys in case of any discrepancies. Challenges are reviewed by NTA officials, if found accurate, corrections are made in accordance and a final set of answer keys are released after corrections. This shall be treated as the final set of answer keys.

How to Calculate NEET 2023 Score?

Follow the below steps to calculate your NEET score:

    • Candidates can match their responses, as given in the OMR sheet, with the official release of answer keys after it has been released
    • Ensure that the question paper code and the NEET answer key are the same before you begin to tally. You can know the code; it is provided at the top of the pages of both the OMR sheet and the answer key
    • Candidates will have to then compute both the correct and incorrect responses to estimate their probable NEET score. Award 4 marks for each correct response
    • If you have marked more than one answer for a single question, take that to be null, do not count that and allot zero marks to it

NEET Results 2023

NTA declares results on its official website neet.nta.nic. To check and download results, candidates must provide details such as their date of birth and roll number. NEET scorecard displays NEET cut-off marks, total marks scored, percentile, AIR, marks scored in each subject (PCB), AIQ Rank (All India Quota), and category rank.

Those candidates clearing the announced cut-off marks will be included in the All India Merit list. The AIQ (All India Quota) list will be prepared for qualified candidates opting for admissions under the AIQ category.

NEET 2023 Counseling

NTA announces NEET results a few weeks after NEET exam concludes. The counseling process commences then onwards. The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) conducts counseling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ). Counseling for the remaining 85% state quota seats is conducted individually by corresponding state counseling officials. Only those candidates who have cleared the NEET cut-off announced that year are eligible to apply for the counseling process. To participate in counseling, aspirants must register through the online mode.
